What We Did

Day 1 · 2026-12-13
Day 1
Two hour drive turned into 5 hours

We left our house around 11am, and it had been snowing pretty good since about 8am. We drove mostly 2 lane highways and country roads up to Peoria until we were required to get on the interstate. We got in around 4pm, and relaxed in our hotel room playing Apples to Apples until it was time to leave and head to the Civic Center. It was a cold walk, but we made it a quick short walk over. We ate dinner at the civic center and found our seats. The place was nearly empty, we were in the upper bowl with only a few people right behind us. The boys stood at the wall for most of the game and enjoyed every bit of it. After the game, we went back to the hotel to settle down in bed, then back home the next morning.

If We Did It Again

Double check before booking hotel
After arriving at our hotel, I realized I hadn't booked the one that had a walkway to the civic center. The reason it took us 3+ hours to arrive was due to the huge amount of snow we had received overnight, and throughout the day. We stayed off the interstate as much as possible, to avoid other drivers.
