Around Town
What We Did
We left around noon and drove straight to Springfield, Missouri. When we got to town, we stopped at the Bass Pro Outlet and got Raising Cane's for dinner to take back to the hotel to eat and watch a movie for the evening.
We left the hotel at 8:45 am to go to the Wonders of Wildlife Museum and Aquarium and spent 3 hours going through it all. This was our first time there, and we had decided we will be going back again. As soon as we got back into the car, Ollie fell asleep from all the walking and excitement of seeing all the animals. We stopped at La Boba Cafe on our way out of town, then Sonic for a late lunch. We stopped in Lebanon at an outlet store. We got into St. Louis 2 hours later and ate at Bonefish Grill before checking into our hotel; we stayed in the Brentwood Village area.
We woke up and ate breakfast downstairs and then went to the Magic House and spent a few hours there. You would do one room and move to the next, and everything was interactive for the boys, between pretend play, dress-up, and STEAM activities. The boys did well, and A went from one thing to the next easily and was excited to see what the next room had in store. We ate at Mission Taco for lunch, then back to the hotel for naps. A and I left during a nap for our first book shopping/coffee date on a vacation. This will end up becoming our thing on vacation while his brothers have quiet time; we find local bookshops and get coffee/special drinks. We went to Trader Joe's once everybody woke up; it was close to our hotel, and we had never been. We ordered IMO's pizza for dinner, then swam.
After we woke up and ate breakfast downstairs, we headed off to the Science Center; the boys enjoyed themselves very much until we had to leave, and it will be another must-do in the future. We watched "The Little Star that Could" at the planetarium; Ollie was a bit nervous when the lights started to turn off for the movie. We ate at Sugarfire on our way home. A wanted to ride The Wheel, so we have added this to our next trip to St. Louis.
Planned vs. What Happened
