Dungeon Crawler Carl

by Matt Dinniman
Dungeon Crawler Carl #1
fantasyscience fiction

Carl ends up on the most-watched game show in the galaxy with is ex-girlfriend's prize winning cat.

This book had been on my TBR list for a bit, but it wasn't until my oldest son wanted to read it that I decided to read it. I wanted to make sure it was appropriate for him, it is for sure not appropriate for a 5th grader, maybe in a few years. Carl is on an intergalactic game show with his ex-girlfriend's prize-winning cat, and they have to survive. Imagine a dungeon video game, but in book form, we read his achievements and see what loot he earns, and the achievements are just as humorous as the talking cat. He has to battle different creatures, and level himself up as he goes.
Will he help others that are not him and his cat? Will he make it to the next level?

This is one of the few books where pop-culture works, different references are made throughout the whole book, there is humor also. The rest of this series is going on my TBR list for sure.

The verdict

A booktok book, that I was curious to read, and had heard mixed reviews, and after starting, was laughing, and gasping through the whole book.
