Cursed Child
Lodging
Around Town
- Landry's Seafood House — The seafood pasta was delicious, and the garlic bread, was amazing.
- Pressed Waffle Co. — A must-stop every time we're in St. Louis, we always make sure to fit it in on our way out.
- The City Foundry STL — We've been more times than I can count and will keep going back. I've already told the boys: next St. Louis trip, this is the only place we're eating all weekend.
What We Did
The Hotel
We left home around 1pm and arrived in St. Louis around 3:30. We got checked into our hotel, the Angad Arts Hotel. We were on a yellow floor, which means the whole floor and room are themed in yellow. The other colors are red, blue, and green. The hotel has 7 floors of rooms with a rooftop bar, a restaurant, and a library. We booked a double bunk bed room, so there were 2 sets of twin-size bunk beds; the boys thought this was the coolest.
Dinner at Union Station
After a quick change, we went to Landry's Seafood House for dinner in Union Station. I did not realize that this weekend was the trifecta of sports: Cardinals baseball, Blues hockey, and Battlehawks UFL were all in town on Saturday, so traffic was a little heavier than usual trying to get to Union Station right before the Blues game, but we just made our dinner reservation and had time to eat and get back to the hotel for a few minutes.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Then back to the hotel for a few minutes before heading downstairs to The Fabulous Fox Theater to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The AAH is 2 street crossings from the theater; we could see it outside our room windows. We sat in the upper balcony, farther away from the stage, but I don't think there is a bad seat in the house unless the person in front keeps moving their head in front of the stage. We all enjoyed the play and would recommend it to Harry Potter fans. The only suggestion for this is if you need to use the restroom, as soon as intermission starts, go straight for the restroom; the lines get long, and I missed the beginning of the second part.
After a late night, we woke up and got going and checked out around 9am, headed to The City Foundry STL and got waffles from Pressed Waffle Co., The City Foundry has a food hall and shopping, and a grocery store, and at 9am it is fairly very quiet, what is open, is Press Waffle Co. and has very good waffles.
O got The House, which has cookie butter, Nutella, and strawberries along with whipped cream on top of their Liége waffle, and A got The Happy Camper, which has s'mores, mini marshmallows, chocolate syrup, and cookie butter on top of their Liége waffle. Sunday morning before heading home. According to Google, Liège waffles are a rich, dense, and chewy Belgian waffle made from a brioche-like dough with pearl sugar mixed in, which caramelizes on the outside for a sweet, crunchy crust. Even the tomorrow waffles have a crunchy crust.
After a quick breakfast, we went to Marcus Ronnies 20 Cine & IMAX to see Project Hail Mary in IMAX. This was the boys' and my second time seeing it, but after seeing it the first time, I really wanted to see it in IMAX, and this was the only theater near us that still had it showing. We all agreed we liked it in IMAX better and were glad we had a chance to go see it. The chairs were big comfy chairs with a seat warmer, which was nice, because none of us remembered/had a sweatshirt when we went in.
We got out of the movie just after 1:30 and headed to Steak 'n Shake for lunch, then Books-a-million in Edwardsville to purchase Project Hail Mary. I had read it as a library book but wanted to buy a physical copy; instead of driving around and trying to find it secondhand, we just bought a new copy. We were trying to make A's art show, but unfortunately we didn't make it. After this stop we were just too far out.
Planned vs. What Happened
If We Did It Again
